The Program

International physicians do not always have access to a pathway to both improve their clinical skills and prepare them for teaching, administrative and other leadership roles. This academic degree program seeks to remedy that within the environment of a world-class institution with internationally renown educators and clinicians.

The MS degree in Clinical Medicine certifies completion of a rigorous curriculum preparing students for advanced clinical practice and evidence-based teaching within Loma Linda University’s Whole Person Care philosophy. The program offers international students opportunities often unavailable in their home countries to strengthen clinical and pedagogical skills for the benefit of current and future students and patients. Students learn alongside faculty and peers in a dynamic, interdisciplinary community of clinicians and scholars across the health professions.

Please note, this program is only open to international students and does not lead to licensure to practice medicine in the United States.

Program Learning Outcomes

By the end of the program, graduates should be able to:

1. Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge and skills applicable to patient care.
2. Enhance students’ ability to critically evaluate medical literature and apply clinical research methodologies to allow them to continue to adopt further advances in practice.
3. Provide a foundation for Compassionate Patient Care using the Whole Person Care model.
4. Create learning activities that stimulate interaction and reflection.
5. Formulate curricular objectives and outcomes.
6. Develop evaluation and assessment instruments for classroom and clinical settings.

Selected practicing physicians and surgeons will be identified in collaboration with LLUSM administration and invited to join this program. Students will be selected from international institutions operated by or aligned with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Recruitment into this program is through invitation only.
