The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics offers academic programs designed to prepare students for professional careers in nutrition and dietetics. Graduates are eligible to pursue registration as dietitians and, upon successful completion of the required board examination, may work in a variety of settings including hospitals, health-care organizations, and school food-service systems. Some graduates also establish private practices and provide consulting services to long-term care facilities, sports teams, and other community organizations.

The department’s classroom-based coordinated programs that lead to RD/RDN (Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist) eligibility are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). These programs integrate both didactic coursework and more than 1,000 hours of supervised practice experiences within the curriculum to prepare students for professional practice.
