RXEE 580. Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience—Community I. 4 Units.
This rotation introduces pharmacy practice in a community setting. Students gain an understanding of community pharmacy workflow and develop basic practice skills. They are introduced to patient counseling on prescription and self-care medications, and practice communication with patients and other healthcare providers. Please remove the RXEE 690 prerequisite in Banner.
Prerequisite: Valid pharmacist intern license.

RXEE 680. Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience—Community II. 4.5 Units.
This rotation introduces pharmacy practice in a community setting with emphasis on the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process. Students apply skills to receive and interpret prescriptions, process third-party claims, perform calculations, prepare and dispense medications, manage inventory, handle transfers and phone-in orders, and comply with laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice and personnel.
Prerequisite: RXEE 580, and a valid pharmacist intern license.
RXEE 684. IPPE Community Rotation Readiness. 2 Units.
This course prepares first-year pharmacy students for success in community pharmacy setting. Through interactive case studies and hands-on activities, students will apply essential skills such as pharmacy workflow, patient counseling, and effective communication.
RXEE 685. IPPE Institutional Rotation Readiness. 1 Unit.
This course prepares second-year pharmacy students for success in institutional pharmacy setting. Students will gain an understanding of hospital operations, workflow, protocols, including medication order processing, pharmaceutical calculations, and drug distribution systems.
RXEE 690. Introduction to Hospital Pharmacy Practice. 2 Units.
Introduces pharmacy practice in an institutional setting. Opportunities to gain experience with medication procurement, order entry, pharmaceutical calculations, admixture, dispensing, and distribution. Gives opportunities to observe the pharmacist’s role on the healthcare team in optimizing medication therapy and providing drug information to other healthcare professionals.
Prerequisite: P2 standing.
RXEE 790. Introduction to Clinical Pharmacy Practice. 2 Units.
Introduces clinical pharmacy practice in an institutional setting. Gives opportunities to observe and participate in clinical services, answer drug information questions, and review patient records. Acquire and apply therapeutic knowledge to assess drug profiles, identify interactions, monitor for adverse effects, and follow the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process. Students also communicate pharmacotherapy recommendations professionally to patients and healthcare providers.
Prerequisite: P3 standing.
RXEE 805. IPPE to APPE Transition and Preparation. 1 Unit.
This course prepares third-year pharmacy students for a smooth transition into their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences. Students will network with preceptors to gain valuable insights and building professional relationships. The course will guide students through rotation selection, registration, onboarding, and preparation process.

This optional 6-week experiential elective is designed to expose fourth-year pharmacy students to unique and specialized areas of pharmacy practice, both clinical and non-clinical. The course is designed to expose students to unique and specialized areas of pharmacy practice, both clinical and non-clinical. Students will explore diverse roles of pharmacists across various settings, including but not limited to independent pharmacies, hospital-based specialty areas, and the pharmaceutical industr.
RXEE 828. Advanced Pharmacy Practice - Board Prep. 6 Units.
This course prepares pharmacy students for licensure and board exams through focused support. Topics include loan management, licensure application, Interprofessional Disaster Training, and practice exams that progressively increase in length to build endurance and confidence for the NAPLEX.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of didactic courses; valid pharmacist intern license.
